Starting EMD Locomotives In this tutorial you will learn how to start the EMD locomotives available from the World of Trainz store.
|
1. Using DCC When you start a driver session and DCC is selected the locomotives in the session are started automatically. If you want to stop the locomotives in a consist then the "Locomotive start or shut down command" must be used. If a loco runs out of fuel and is then refueled the start sequence is again automatic. 2. Using Cab Mode In cab mode nothing is done automatically. The loco must be started manually and each locomotive in a consist can be started independently of the other locomotives. The "Locomotive start or shut down command" can be used to quickly start or shut down the entire consist. Locomotives must also be started manually or by using the driver command after refueling (Provided the locomotive was shut down prior to refueling). To start a locomotive in Cab Mode the following procedure must be followed; When the loco is first entered the driver will be facing forward. Rotate the camera either using the mouse or the arrow keys until you can see the rear panel detail. Then using either the mouse or the arrow keys zoom in until you can clearly see the panel shown in figure 1. Place the mouse cursor over the "Isolation Switch" until the label appears and then rotate the switch 180 degrees in a clockwise direction or until it points to "Start Stop Isolate" as shown in figure 2. |

Once you have the isolation switch rotated then you can press the "Start Switch" to start the locomotive. Rotate again to the forward view and you will see that all the gauges and indicators are now active.
3. Shutting down Once you have finished the days work with the locomotive you can shut down the locomotive by pressing the "EFCO/STOP SWITCH". EFCO is an abbreviation for Emergency Fuel Cut Off. Once you have pressed the EFCO switch the start switch and the isolation switch should reset and the gauges and dials should be de-activated.

4. Alternate start up and shut down As stated earlier the entire consist can be started or shut down using the "Locomotive start or shut down command". Future revisions of this command may make it possible to start or shut down individual locomotives instead of the entire consist. Details on how to set up the command can be found here Was this tutorial helpful? Not enough or too much detail? Points not explained properly? Suggest any improvements?
