Setting up a fuel consuming Locomotive and related industry in Surveyor In this tutorial you will learn how to set up locomotive and related industry for sand and fuel consumption and production in surveyor. NOTE The locomotive shown has running number support and refueling support. Not all locomotives support running numbers or refueling. |
1. Locomotive setup After you have added a locomotive to your layout make sure the "Trains Tab" is still open. Select the button with a question mark in the center of it and click on the locomotive that you want to setup the fuel level. A "Properties" window will appear as shown in figure 2. To add fuel to the locomotive click on the diesel fuel icon and the menu will expand out as shown in figure 3. As you can see the units are set to 0 which means we have no fuel in the locomotive. If we were to switch to driver without adding fuel the locomotive would be unable to start.

Click on the "0" and a "Set initial load" window will appear allowing you to add the desired amount of fuel to the locomotive. Looking at the main properties window again you will see that the "Mad Load" is 15160 for the locomotive diesel fuel which means it will acept any amount up to 15160. If you were to type in a number higher than 15160 then when you close the window the value will reset to 15160.

Once you have set the intial load for the Locomotive Diesel Fuel then you can repeat the proceedure for the Locomotive Sand. 2. Industry setup Once you have the lcoomotive setup then you need to configure the industry to suit your requirements. Open the "Objects" tab and make sure the question mark icon is selected. Click on the Diesel Refueling Depot |

The properties window shows the details for the consumption and production of the products used in the Diesel Refueling Depot. To change any of the settings all you need to do it click on the number and a new window will appear to allow you to change the amount. Changing the rate values changes the amount of a product that the industry consumes or produces in each minute. This is the main value to set as it effects the avialability of the end products and the issuing of waybills to replenish supplies. The other start amount values are only used at start up and once the industry starts consuming and producing then these values chance rapidly.

Once you have set each value click on the "Tick" and you should have an industry ready to supply fuel and sand to your locomotives..
