In this tutorial you will learn how to enable the display of known file extensions in Windows XP
Note. Other versions of Windows are similar.
Open a folder in Windows and expand the "Tools" menu and select "Folder Options"

You will then be presented with the screen shown in figure 2. Select the "View" tab

Once you have the "View" tab selected you will be presented with the setting shown in figure 3. You may have to scroll down to find the setting "Hide extensions for known file types"

Once you have found the setting ensure that is not selected as shown in figure 4. Once you have deselected it click on OK and the window will close and you should now be able to see all file extensions.
