History

When I first purchased Trainz I was extremely happy with the way it is presented and the community support available via the forums. Originally I was happy with the content available on the Download Station but as time progressed I decided that there were a few things missing. I then decided to try and produce a cement tanker that used to visit the local bulk cement transfer station. Unfortunately I was unable at the time to find any information on the tanker and I shelved it. Then I tried to build a six axle tanker and because I had more experience with AutoCAD I used it to create the tanker and then export it into 3DStudio. Unfortunately this did not work well as it ended up with far too many polygons. I then gave up all together for a month or more until I finally found some plans for the cement tanker. I decided it was time to learn how to use 3DStudio Max. I had quite a few problems with the first model but I did not give up and eventually I had a model that I could upload. I then went on to build more rolling stock and animations etc. but the biggest challenge I have had is the SD70MAC. I don't know exactly how many hours I have spent getting the mesh the way I want it but in my opinion it has all been worth it. I am by no means an expert on 3DStudio Max or Gmax but I can create content that is at least on par with the experts. Now I spend more time creating than I do actually playing the game. The point of this story is don't give up. Everyone must start somewhere. I still remember when I first started out that there is a serious lack of tutorials out there so I have decided to address this problem with my own set of tutorials.
